International Collaboration
This week and next, we are pleased to welcome Prof. Aline de Paula from the University of Brasília to the Smart Systems Lab at the University of Turku. Dr. de Paula, an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, brings her expertise in nonlinear dynamics, chaos, control, and smart structures, with a special focus on energy harvesting and vibration control using advanced materials such as shape memory alloys, piezoelectric materials, and metamaterials.
Her visit is part of the project “Nonlinear Dynamics and Intelligent Control of Biosystems,” a collaboration between Prof. Marcelo Amorim Savi (Federal University of Rio de Janeiro) and Prof. Wallace Moreira Bessa (University of Turku), funded by the Brazilian National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq).
We look forward to exploring new ideas and fostering valuable research collaborations during her stay!
Dr. Aline de Paula holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Brasília. Her research focuses on nonlinear dynamics, chaos, control, and smart structures. Applications of particular interest include the use of shape memory alloys, piezoelectric materials, and metamaterials for energy harvesting and vibration control.
