Silvia Gaiani
"Sustainable food production"
Before joining Ruralia Institute, Silvia has worked as consultant for FAO, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations at its headquarters in Rome, Italy and WMO, the World Meteorological Organization of the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland – where she has contributed to reports, projects writing and workshops organization.
Her research and consultancy activities focus on food loss and waste, the sustainability of the food supply chain, food security and agro-meteorology.
Since 2008 Silvia has been collaborating on a stable basis with the University of Eastern Finland mainly contributing to projects on ICT4D in Africa, supervising master and PhD students and co-authoring scientific articles.
Silvia holds a master degree in International Relations and two PhDs, one in Interational Cooperation and Policies for Sustainable Development and one in Food Politcs and Economics.
