Language revitalization
On the second tier are languages that are not yet disappearing, but are nevertheless endangered. The aim is to both record and revitalize these languages, for example through the tandem language learning, where two speakers of different languages teach each other through informal conversation. This allows speakers of rare languages to teach their own languages to people who do not speak them, and at the same time to strengthen their language skills in one of Namibia’s school languages. A simple phonetic analysis of the languages will be carried out based on stories and interviews, examining vowels, consonants and prosody, and the results of the analysis will be used to find the most suitable tandem pairs.
