VALDED

Validated Directed Energy Deposition for Critical Industrial Applications

VALDED

Innovation and Skills in Finland 2021-2027 European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) programme

VALDED joint project (University of Turku and Turku University of Applied Sciences) addresses the need for reliable and efficient directed energy deposition (DED) 3D printing expertise for large, demanding metal components in industry. Broader adoption of this technology requires not only the development of application expertise, but also advancements in manufacturing processes and quality assurance of the final products.

The project will establish a comprehensive capability, operating model, and equipment base that support the effective utilization of the technology and best practices in companies and research institutions in the Turku region. This will significantly enhance the competitiveness of industry in Southwest Finland, promote low-carbon solutions, and create new business opportunities.

The VALDED project also contains a separate equipment investment project aimed at strengthening innovation activities

Duration of the project: 1.1.2026-31.12.2028

Total budget: 1 333 856 €         EU funding: 800 315 €
