DARIAH Annual Event 2025

Julia Matveeva attended the DARIAH Annual Event 2025 conference in Göttingen, Germany. The theme of the event was Historical Data Analysis, and Matveeva along with her research group presented a poster “Scalable Refinement of the Finnish National Bibliography for Large-Scale Statistical Analysis.”

In the poster they introduced a method for processing and harmonizing meta data from the Finnish National Biography Fennica for extensive statistical analysis. The method is based on open and scalable data science.

The research concentrated especially on the literary history of the time period of the Grand Duchy of Finland (1809–1917) and showcased, how the quality, repeatability, and openness of metadata can be supported with automatic and semi-automatic curating processes. The workflow for handling bibliographic data developed by the project offers new tools for using national bibliographies in research and supports the principles of open science.
