Fat in Focus Finland 2026
Building a National Platform for Adipose Tissue Research Methodology
10–11 December 2026 | Turku, Finland
Welcome to the Fat in Focus Finland Meeting 2026!
Dear Colleagues,
Fat in Focus Finland 2026 is a scientific meeting focused on methodologies for studying adipose tissue biology, metabolism and function. The meeting brings together Finnish researchers working on brown, white and bone marrow adipose tissue using diverse approaches, including clinical studies, human physiology, in vivo imaging, cell and spheroid models, organ-on-chip systems, preclinical models, omics, fluxomics and data science.
The aim of the meeting is to build a national platform for adipose tissue research methodology in Finland. Rather than focusing only on scientific findings, the meeting highlights the methods behind the discoveries: what different approaches can measure, what their limitations are, and how they can be combined across scales from cells and tissues to whole-body physiology.
Fat in Focus Finland 2026 offers an opportunity to share methodological expertise, identify possibilities for collaboration, and develop new ideas for national, Nordic and European research initiatives. The meeting is intended for researchers, clinicians, PhD students, postdocs and research professionals interested in adipose tissue metabolism, obesity, diabetes, metabolic health, imaging, molecular biology, physiology and computational life sciences.
The scientific programme will include invited lectures, methodological sessions, poster presentations, discussion sessions and networking opportunities.
Looking forward to seeing you in Turku.
Yours sincerely,
Kirsi A. Virtanen
