KISUVI at the Nordic Languages as a Second Language conference

The University of Bergen hosted the 17th Conference on Nordic Languages as a Second Language (NORDAND17) on June 10–12, 2026. The conference is held every two years in a different Nordic country and focuses on research into second languages and multilingualism in various contexts. The conference brings together researchers, teachers, and doctoral students from across the Nordic region. The next conference will be held in Jyväskylä.

KISUVI participated in the conference with a presentation titled Bruket av olika skrivstrategier och dess inverkan på L2-skrivprocesser, held by Anne-Maj Åberg. The material for the presentation consisted of the writing processes of Finnish-speaking university students in Swedish and English. The presentation drew an audience of nearly 40 people, who actively commented and asked relevant questions.

During the conference, participants had the opportunity to make important Nordic contacts and explore the beautiful and picturesque, albeit rainy, city of Bergen. Bergen is one of the rainiest cities in Europe, with more than 200 days of rain per year.
