Anna Järvinen in December symposium “Telling Embodied Stories”

It is only a week until SELMA’s first symposium! “Telling Embodied Stories: Girlhood, Memory and Art” will gather Swedish and Finnish artists and researchers to the University of Turku on Friday  11 December.

The aim of the symposium is to create dialogue between art and research and discuss how  girls, girlhood, storytelling and remembering are imagined and explored in different art forms, such as music, lyrics, literature and dance. Our keynote speaker is Swedish-Finnish artist and musician Anna Järvinen.

The symposium is organized by SELMA in co-operation with the Department of Cultural History, Finnish Youth Research Society/Finnish Youth Research Network, FlickForsk! Nordic Network for Girlhood Studies and International Institute for Popular Culture (IIPC).

Anna Järvinen will also give a concert (with Tapio Viitasaari) in the evening of the 11th. Other artist of the evening will be Kimi Kärki (with Anna-Elena Pääkkölä). Here you can join the event and buy tickets!
