CFP: Storytelling, Experientiality and Memory

Storytelling, Experientiality, and Memory
A Seminar for Doctoral Researchers

25 March, 13-15
Arcanum A259

SELMA Centre invites doctoral researchers to participate in an upcoming symposium related to the centre’s main topics of Storytelling, Experientiality and Memory. We would like to give this platform for younger scholars to present their work, network with each other, and share experiences and tips about getting started in academia. The seminar is bilingual, so you can present in English or in Finnish.

Our research foci include but are not limited to life-writing, narratives of illness and health, environmental narratives, trauma narratives, transcultural memory, and digital storytelling. We explore the intersections of narrative, experience and memory from both theoretical and historical perspectives. If the topic of your dissertation is related to any of these themes, we invite you to submit us a paper proposal in the form of a 100-200 word abstract and a 50 word bio. The topic of your paper can be a broader discussion of the themes in your doctoral dissertation, or focus on a particular topic (upcoming article / chapter, for example). Please send your abstract to our coordinator via email lianme[at]utu.fi. The deadline for submissions is 28 February.
