S-MAT Research Group

Smart Energy Materials Research Group

The Smart Energy Materials (S-MAT) group is invested in developing smart materials for energy technologies, with a particular interest in Photovoltaics and neuromorphic computing. This involves stimuli-responsive systems, hybrid perovskite frameworks, and other bioinspired supramolecular materials that can adapt to their operating conditions in sustainable technologies. We rely on a combined methodological approach at the interface of chemistry, physics, materials science, and engineering, including design, synthesis, and analysis of materials and devices. In addition to research, education, and international collaborations, we are involved in science for policy and diplomacy. We believe in innovation through collaboration, diversity, and interdisciplinarity, nurturing creativity, authenticity, and leadership for transformative impact and sustainable development.
