Jovana V. Milić Contributes to the Interface of Science, Policy, and Diplomacy
Dr. Jovana Milić, Associate Professor of Materials Chemistry at the University of Turku (UTU), continues to make a broader impact in science, policy, and international collaboration through her engagements.
In a step toward broader societal engagement at the University of Turku (UTU), Jovana has joined TechDigi, UTU’s new strategic initiative under the Future Technologies and Digital Society thematic collaboration. TechDigi brings together researchers across disciplines to address technological challenges with societal relevance, and Jovana’s expertise in sustainable materials and energy systems is expected to play a key role.
On the European stage, Jovana has joined the Advisory Board of INGSA-Europe and contributed to the organization of the European Network of Young Academies (ENYA) meeting in Bern (Switzerland), as part of the organizing committee. Moreover, she has been elected as a member of the Young Academy of Europe (YAE) and appointed to the Board of YASAS (Young Academies Science Advice Structure). YASAS is part of the SAPEA (Science Advice for Policy by European Academies) consortium, which supports evidence-based policymaking for the European Commission through the European science policy mechanism (SAM). Jovana has already participated in the SAM Conference in Vienna (Austria) as a panellist at the session organized by the International Science Council (ISC) to address building the skills and practices for young scientists.
These appointments reflect Jovana’s commitment to leveraging science for broader societal benefit, from local innovation ecosystems to global policy platforms at the interface of science, policy, and diplomacy. Her work continues to inspire interdisciplinary collaboration and empower the next generation of scientists.
