Key to identify Melastomataceae that predicts soil properties in western Amazonia

This online key allows the identification of 55 species of Melastomataceae from western Amazonia. These species belong to the  “easy-set” group by Suominen L. et al. 2013, which are abundant, relatively easy to identify and indicate soil cation concentration.  Inventories of these species can speed up the background information gathering for sustainable land-use planning in Amazonia.
