APPLE (Auditory environment by Parents of Preterm infants; Language development and Eye movements) study explores the importance of parent speech and presence for the development of premature infants.

APPLE research

APPLE (Auditory environment by Parents of Preterm infants; Language development and Eye movements) Study explores the importance of very early parental speech and presence of parents at the neonatal intensive care unit for the later development of premature infants during the first two years of life.

During the study, the development of approximately 100 very preterm babies born before 32 weeks of pregnancy will be followed for the first two years of age.

Research material is collected at Turku University Central Hospital and Tallinn Children’s Hospital. APPLE Study is carried out in cooperation with the following entities: Turku University Central Hospital, Tallinn Children’s Hospital, University of Turku, University of Helsinki and University of Tampere.
