Bonjour Paris! NuFo Researchers at IUNS Congress 2025

The International Union of Nutritional Sciences (IUNS) Congress, brought together leading experts in nutrition science from around the world. This international conference is held every four years, and this year’s congress took place in Paris from August 24–29, 2025. Conference showcased groundbreaking research, including contributions from the Nutrition and Food Research Center (NuFo) at the University of Turku.

Two posters were presented based on findings from the first Dining Flow project’s study conducted at Flavoria in spring 2024. The first poster focused on food waste, examining both the quantitative data and the attitudes of participants toward waste. These insights are crucial for designing targeted interventions and policies to minimize food waste in different demographic groups. The second poster explored the food choices and nutritional intake of Flavoria study participants. Using Flavoria’s advanced data collection tools, accurately measure the nutrient content of meals in real time was available. This data allowed the analysis of nutrient content of the meals based on e.g., age and meal choices. This study demonstrated Flavoria’s potential as a scalable platform for nutritional monitoring and research, offering precise and actionable data for public health and dietary planning.

Both posters showcased how Flavoria can be used to collect accurate, real-time data on food consumption and nutrient intake on a large scale. This capability opens new possibilities for researchers, policymakers, and health professionals seeking to understand and improve dietary habits.
