KASVU-study

The KASVU longitudinal study examines the learning, motivation, and commitment to studies in the field of education among students who were admitted through the educational sciences suitability assessment. The study also investigates the development of key competence areas during the course of their studies. In addition, it explores how success in prior studies and in student selection processes predicts these developmental trajectories.

The longitudinal study is conducted as a collaboration between the University of Helsinki, the University of Eastern Finland, the University of Jyväskylä, the University of Oulu, the University of Lapland, Tampere University, and the University of Turku. Data are collected through surveys from teacher education students who were admitted via the two-stage national joint application process in the field of education, both at the beginning of their studies and at later stages. The survey data are supplemented with register data related to student selection and academic performance. Research data are collected from students who began their studies between 2020 and 2025.
