Researchers

Dr. Hanna Nori (PhD in Education) is a principal investigator of the project. She works as a university researcher at the Department of Education at the University of Turku. Dr. Nori leads the research project and is responsible for general management. She is also the contact person of the project. Dr Nori’s research focuses on the social structures and societal boundaries of higher education. Her recent studies related to student admission, educational equality and employment of graduates. Also, Dr Nori is specialised for analysing the large statistical data.

Henna Juusola, (MA in cultural anthropology) is the researcher of the project. Juusola is a PhD candidate at the Faculty of Management and Business (Higher Education Group) at the Tampere University.  Juusola will defend her PhD on the quality of Finnish education export, applying critical discourse analysis and pragmatic sociology in the year 2020. Before entering an academic career, she has worked in different expert positions in the field of higher education.

Dr. Vuokko Kohtamäki (PhD in administrative sciences, Adjunct Professor) is a researcher of the project. She works as a university lecturer at the Faculty of Management and Business (Higher Education Group) at the Tampere University. Dr. Kohtamäki’s research focuses on leadership, autonomy and social impact of higher education.  She has participated in demanding national development and evaluation tasks such as preparation of the university and university of applied sciences reforms. Dr Kohtamäki also leads the study Programme in Administration and Management of Higher Education (KOHA) for which outputs of the GATE-project is to be integrated.

Dr. Anu Lyytinen (PhD in administrative sciences) is a researcher of the project She works as a university researcher at the Faculty of Management and Business (Higher Education Group) at Tampere University. Dr. Lyytinen’s research focuses on stakeholder relations, quality management, efficiency and third mission of higher education institutions. She also has experience in a comparative research approach in the Nordic region.

Prof. Jussi Kivistö (PhD in administrative sciences) is a researcher of the project. He is a professor of higher education management at the Faculty of Management and Business (Higher Education Group) at Tampere University. Dr. Kivistö’s recent research focuses on university funding. Dr. Kivistö has also actively participated in the national debate on the Finnish higher education system and policy, and he has held several international expert positions in the field of higher education (including the World Bank).
