Health Behaviour and Wellbeing of School-aged Children
We follow the same questions across decades and dozens of countries, to understand how young people’s health is changing, and what shapes it along the way.
The Health Behaviour in School-aged Children study (HBSC) has been asking young people the same core questions since 1982, which means every four-year wave adds another layer to an increasingly long view of how adolescence itself is changing. Being part of this international collaboration lets us place Finnish adolescents’ health in a genuinely comparative, cross-national context. Every four years since, tens of thousands of 11-, 13- and 15-year-olds (grades 5, 7 and 9) across more than 50 countries have answered the same core questions about their health, wellbeing and everyday lives.
The most recent data was collected 2025-2026. We are looking forward on the next data collection taking place in 2029-2030.
