Welcome to the websites of the PENVOL project!

PENVOL research project examines cooperation between the Finnish Criminal Sanctions Agency and third sector. In particular, the project explores the volume and content of cooperation in different parts of Finland and the possible benefits, challenges and effects associated with the cooperation.

The research data of the project consists of interviews with staff from third sector organizations, prisons and probation offices and surveys sent to the staff from prisons and probation offices.

The principal investigator of the project is senior researcher Maija Helminen from the University of Turku. The other researcher of the project is university lecturer Mia Kilpeläinen from the University of Eastern Finland. The research project is funded by the Nordic Research Council for Criminology (NSfK).
