North-European Radio Astronomy School 2020

The North-European Radio Astronomy School 2020 is organized by Finnish Centre for Astronomy with ESO (FINCA), University of Turku Department of Physics and Astronomy, and Aalto University Metsähovi Radio Observatory. It will be held in May 25-29, 2020 at Solvalla national sports center [https://www.folkhalsan.fi/en/vara-hus/solvalla/] in Nuuksio national park in Southern Finland.

The school will cover basics of radio/sub-mm astronomy and interferometry, including observations, modelling and data analysis. The school will feature lectures and in-depth project work. The lecture topics range from single dish observations and Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) to interferometry with ALMA.

The school is open to any student or young researcher interested in radio/sub-mm astronomy. The school is mainly intended for participants from the Nordic and Baltic countries, but students from any country are welcome to apply.

Registration

North-European Radio Astronomy School 2020 has no registration fee and the accommodation and all the meals are included for participants. Limited travel support is available for some participants. To apply for financial support please fill in additional information in the application form. If you would like to attend the school, please complete the application form.

Registration deadline is Februrary 29, 2020. We will let applicants know during March if their application has been successful. Decisions about financial support will be made at the same time.

Note that the places are limited to 20-30 participants. If we have more registrations than that, letters of reference will be asked to help in selecting the participant (fill in details about the person recommending you in the application form).
