The Career Services offers career coachings for students as well as courses to support their job search and career planning.

In the autumn 2022, we will offer two coachings and self-study package as part of the UNICOM project (read more here.)

My Finnish Career-coaching

University of Turku Career Services organize My Finnish Career -coaching, focusing on career planning, Finnish working life and job seeking in Finland. The coaching is held in English and coordinated by University of Turku Career Services’ career counselors.

My Finnish Career -coaching will be organized during 25.10-30.11.2022

The coaching focuses on the following topics:

  • How the Finnish labour market works
  • The Finnish work culture
  • Your strengths, skills and career interests
  • Job seeking in Finland
  • Conducting a job interview

The coaching is designed for:

  • International master’s degree students at University of Turku and Åbo Akademi University
  • Doctoral candidates, Ph.D’s and post-docs at University of Turku and Åbo Akademi University

Working Life Coach-programme

The Career Services offer international university talents the possibility apply for a short-term Working Life Coach. In the Working Life Coach -programme, international university talents hear about working, job search and integration in Southwest Finland from highly educated and successful international alumni of Turku universities.

How to work in Finland  - self study package

Career Services offer a self study career coaching package “How to Work in Finland” in English. The self study materials focus on identifying your skills and how to find a job in Finland. The self study package is suitable for international degree students, doctoral candidates, Ph.D’s and post docs.

The self study package focuses on:

  • The Finnish work culture
  • How the Finnish labour market works
  • Your strengths, skills and career interests
  • Job seeking in Finland

How to complete the package:

The self study package is found on Moodle and you can complete it in your own pace. The UNICOM-project is funded by the European Union (ESF) and the participation requires you to fill in a start note and a finish note. These documents are also found on Moodle.

Job seeking in Finland

Job seeking in Finland course will start in January 2023.

The Career Services offer Job seeking in Finland course (1 credits) . The course consists of information sessions organized by Career Services on a regular basis, as well as the student’s job application documents and the job application. Registration for the course takes place through Peppi.

The aim of the course is to identify career possibilities, interests and skills, to enhance job search strategies and methods, to understan what employers value and need, and to understand how the Finnish labour market works. The course is suitable for all higher education students and doctoral candidates.

Learning outcomes:

You will get an idea of ​​the job search process and learn to understand the importance of your own story (self-knowledge as a factor influencing employability) in job search. During the course you will learn to use different ways of job search and to market your own skills. After completing the course, you will be able to create a job search plan to support the construction of your career path.

Contents:

Completion requires participation in series of infos (a total of 5 infos, see the calendar of events) as well as the preparation of job application documents (CV and application) and a job search plan. Infos will be held remotely. There will be a personal feedback discussion with the teacher in charge of the documents to be prepared.
