Matti visits Laboratory of Molecular Biology in Cambridge, UK

I spent two months in Lori Passmore´s laboratory at the LMB as part of the Academy Research Fellow grant. LMB is one of the leading bioscience institutes in the world and an amazing environment for curiosity-driven basic research. In Lori´s lab I learnt a lot about the mRNA 3’end processing machinery, practiced recombinant protein expression in insect cells using the baculovirus system and also performed some exciting experiments. Most of all, I got to know wonderful talented researchers who were very generous to share their skills and knowledge. I am incredibly grateful for the generosity and support of Juan, Holly, Cemre, Marc, James, Vytaute, Tamara, Pablo, Eva, and of course, Lori herself, who all made me feel welcome and at home during my time in the lab. I couldn’t have asked for a better environment to develop my skills and learn from some of the best in the field.
