Background
URKO has its roots in earlier collaboration and data collection endeavours. The ArGeoPop and SUGRIGE projects began research work of Finnish and Uralic people using ancient DNA (green), but ArGeoPop also began the digitization of the Ancient Relic Register of Finland (archaeology: yellow). The BEDLAN team has several research projects, which have set in motion quantitative research of Uralic languages and Finnish dialects. (language: blue). However, they have also incorporated ecology and geography in their work (brown). Both research endeavours involve strong, mainly Bayesian methodology (violet). Kipot ja kielet is a project that collects linguistic and archaeological data. UraHoli funding, on the other hand, relates to our multidisciplinary network as well as our research article.
