Research lunch with Prof. Andreas Philippopoulos-Mihalopoulos

22.05.2023 12:00 - 13:00

Faculty of Law, University of Turku, Finland

The Faculty of Law of the University of Turku organises a Research Lunch on Mon 22 May at 12.00-13.00 in Calonia journal reading room or Zoom. Our Visiting Professor Andreas Philippopoulos-Mihalopoulos, Professor of Law and Theory at the University of Westminster, London will be interviewed on ‘What does legal research and teaching mean to you?’ The research lunch is reserved to the Faculty members.

The interviewer will be Dr. Miriam Tedeschi. The interview will explore central theoretical concepts – such as lawscape, atmosphere, spatial justice – that Prof. Philippopoulos-Mihalopoulos has used in his work. Apart from their theoretical meanings, the interview will also inquire about concrete examples of these concepts – what they mean and how they can be used in practice. There will also be questions regarding Prof. Philippopoulos-Mihalopoulos’s innovative ways of teaching, including the final year Degree Show at Westminster Law School where law students are asked to produce and present art pieces reflecting on their ‘graduate journey’ and on their understanding of law, justice, and their political and social responsibility.
