Law&Art exhibition on Calonia Research Day
The ‘Law, Space and Justice’ research environment invites researchers from the Faculty of Law (University of Turku) to submit an artwork for the Calonia Research Day on 2nd November, 2023. This would set the foundations of a future Law&Art course. During the Calonia Research Day we will have an exhibition of artworks, and a discussion on the interactions and connections between law and art. In this way we aim to deepen our perspectives on law using art as a means of expression.
It is possible to participate in the exhibition and discussion by submitting the own artwork. It can be, without being limited to:
- Visual art, including paintings, collages, photographs, and sculptures;
- Craft / Crafted objects such as embroideries, woodwork, etc;
- Digital art;
- Video art;
- Poems, short stories, essays.
In addition to the art object, the participants may submit a brief explanation of how this artwork connects them to law. In the exhibition, this will be placed next to the artwork. However, this is not obligatory.
Some practicalities to consider:
- the piece has to be an original work, of which the presenter is an author or co-author (in the latter case the co-author needs to consent to the exhibition);
- after the exhibition the works will be returned to their owners;
- for the exhibition it is possible to use a pseudonym/pen name.
The deadline for work submission is 22.10.2023.
Both authors and other researchers interested in Law&Art are invited to enjoy the exhibition and participate in the following discussion.
