From Print to the Web Astronomy Through the Years

The Discipline of Astronomy at the University of Turku is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year.  To celebrate, the library has created an online exhibition of astronomy throughout history. It includes works from the book collection of the Swedish astronomer Knut Lundmark and doctoral theses from the Academy of Turku. In addition to the historical material, the current state of astronomy from the point of view of publications will also be presented. As a discipline, astronomy has contributed to open science, and scientific articles published at the University of Turku are also largely openly available to all.

In addition to the online exhibition, works from Knut Lundmark’s collection are on display in the Feeniks and Teutori libraries. The exhibitions will be on display until the end of 2024.
