HUSin XXII Tiedepäivät 23.11.2023. Helsinki
HUSin XXII Tiedepäivässä jaettiin hoitotieteen laitoksen tohtoriohjelmassa tohtorintutkinnon suorittaneille tunnustusmerkkejä. Laitoksen tohtoriohjelmasta valmistuneet Satu Poikajärvi ja Leena Tuominen saivat akateemisen tunnustuksen ja siihen kuuluvan rintamerkin.
Laitoksen professori (emerita) Helena Leino-Kilpi piti Tiedepäivässä avausluennon kliinisen hoitotyön etiikan tutkimuksesta.
23.8.2023 The 23rd International Nursing Ethics Conference was arranged this year 14.-15. July in beautiful Genoa, Italy
Department of Nursing Science, University of Turku was well presented at the conference. A group of Finnish researchers from Ethical Health Care and Nursing programme had presentations about research results of their own research or international research projects. The department was also represented in plenary talk with panel discussion. Eleven researchers from Turku participated to conference.
13.6.2022 Professor, PhD Helena Leino-Kilpi has been invited to an honorary member of The Finnish Nurses Association
Honorary Member is a person contributed into the development of nursing profession, and into professional and academic education of the profession. Katriina Laaksonen, Merja Miettinen, Kaija Saranto and Kaarina Torppa were also invited to be honorary members.

31.5.2022 Professor, PhD Riitta Suhonen has been invited to a member of the Academia Europaea, section Clinical and veterinary science in May 2022
The object of Academia Europaea is the advancement and propagation of excellence in scholarship in the humanities, law, the economic, social, and political sciences, mathematics, medicine, and all branches of natural and technological sciences anywhere in the world for the public benefit and for the advancement of the education of the public of all ages. The aim of the Academy is to promote European research, advise governments and international organisations in scientific matters, and further interdisciplinary and international research.

Annual Feedback Day 30.5.2022
Annual Feedback Day together with the staff and students of the Department was held today. Open discussion between staff and students plays an important role in developing our Department and teaching.
Department rewarded a student as Student of the Year: Petra Raatikainen. Adaptus rewarded Associate Professor Anna Axelin as Teacher of the Year and courses Research and Reportage in Nursing Science, Health Care Legislation, Seminar of Bachelor’s Thesis and Philosophy of Nursing and Nursing Science 1 as Courses of the Year.

27.5.2022 Turun yliopiston Promootio
Etiikan tutkimusalaohjelmasta vuonna 2018 väitellyt Niina Ervaala (kuvassa toinen vasemmalla) on vihitty tohtoriksi Turun yliopiston Promootiossa 27.5.2022. Tämän jälkeen hän saa käyttää akateemisia tohtorin tunnuksiaan eli hattua ja miekkaa.

5.5.2022 New professor in Nursing Science in the area of Satakunta Hospital District
In the Department of Nursing Science, we have 7 full professors, and one of them is funded by the Satakunta Hospital District. In this position, since February 2022, we have new person, professor Mari Kangasniemi. Research focus of professor Kangasniemi is in ethics of nursing and health care and change of the work in social and health care. In the new position, she will continue her research, and collaborate with local actors and stakeholders.
We congratulate professor Kangasniemi, and wish her all the best and success for new position!
4.2.2022 Hoitotyön johtajien eettistä aktiivisuutta voidaan vahvistaa verkkokoulutuksella | Laura Laukkasen väitöstilaisuus
Tutkijan valmistumisen juhlaa koettiin jälleen 4.2.2022 TtM Laura Laukkasen väitellessä tutkimuksestaan ”The construct of the ethical activity profile of nurse managers – effectiveness of the Ethics Quarter e-learning intervention”. Vastaväittäjänä oli professori Arja Häggman-Laitila Itä-Suomen yliopistosta ja kustoksena professori Helena Leino-Kilpi. Toisena ohjaajana oli professori Riitta Suhonen.

7.12.2020 Ethics day
Ethics day “Ethics in the constantly changing world (pdf)”, was arranged virtually 7th December 2020, and included many interesting discussions. The topics were for example communication, collaboration, moral courage, ethical competence, successful acting in ethical situations and ethics in pandemic.
7.-9.10.2020 Ethics in health care and nursing research
“Ethical questions are a part of all research. The 10th PhD course “Ethics in health care and nursing research”, was carried out virtually at the Department of Nursing Science 7th-9th October 2020. The course was a part of Finnish Doctoral Education Network in Nursing Science (HOVATO) and we had participants in Finland and Estonia. The responsible teachers of the course were Professor Helena Leino-Kilpi and Docent Mari Kangasniemi.”
1.-2.9.2018 19th International Nursing Ethics Conference & 4th International Ethics in Care Conference
Ethics researchers from University of Turku, Department of Nursing Science participated in the International Nursing Ethics Conference and International Ethics in Care Conference in Cork, Ireland.
18.-22.9.2017 RANCARE COST Action, annual Training Schools
University of Turku, Department of Nursing Science in collaboration with the RANCARE COST Action organized two Training Schools in Turku, on 18th-22nd of September 2017. The focus of the 1st Training School (lead by Professor Walter Sermeus) was on Conceptual, Organisational and Methodological Issues of Nursing Care Rationing. The focus of the 2nd Training School (lead by Professor Riitta Suhonen ) was on the Ethical Perspective of Nursing Care Rationing.
15.-16.9.2017 18th Nursing Ethics Conference & 3rd International Ethics in Care Conference
Several researchers from University of Turku, Department of Nursing Science participated in jointly organized Nursing Ethics Conference and International Ethics in Care Conference on 15th-16th of September in Leuven, Belgium.
