Doctoral education pilot projects at the University of Turku
The University of Turku is involved in developing a new type of doctoral education in a doctoral education pilot programme funded by the Ministry of Education and Culture for 2024–2027, which will open 3-year positions for 136 doctoral researchers. The aim of the doctoral education pilot programme is, among other things, to increase the number of doctors in Finland, pilot a more flexible doctoral education process, encourage doctoral researchers to pursue diverse careers and increase the employment of doctors in a wide range of sectors of society.
The University of Turku is involved in eight projects in flagship fields and three projects in other fields. The first doctoral researchers will start in the pilot projects in August 2024.

What do we expect from you?
We are looking for motivated, talented doctoral researchers who are ready to complete their doctoral studies within the 3-year target deadline. The successful candidate must have the right to study for a doctoral degree at the University of Turku, which has been granted on 1 November 2023 at the earliest.
If you do not have the right to study for a doctoral degree at the University of Turku, you must apply for it separately. The right to study is applied for through the doctoral programmes (see further information). In addition, the applicant must demonstrate the ability to undertake doctoral studies and complete a doctoral degree in accordance with the research plan.
