Injury is a leading cause of death in children and adolescents. Also the extreme violence at schools has raised the need of more developed measures to audit and analyze the threat. injuries and accidents in the learning environment. Systematically recorded injuries and risks help to carry out preventive actions.

Here safety and security are seen from a safety pedagogic point of view. The concept includes the structured learning environment, the people and the practical safety and security solutions made in the school as well as the curriculum.

A pilot project for auditing the every-day accidents, injuries and risks at schools was carried out. The usability study was done with structured theme interviews (n=10) of the Green Cross software pilot users.

The results indicate that risks and injuries at school are unpredictable and they contain often a human factor. A web-based application suits well for data gathering, analyzing the risks and planning preventive factors. Yet the software was not usefu when reporting of repeatedly happening cases, like pupil´s aggressive behavior. In addition there is need for more encouragement to use the audition software on an every-day basis. By monitoring the risks it is possible to make safety culture more visible.
