Marine research at the Archipelago Sea since 1964

Welcome to the Archipelago Research Institute!

The Archipelago Research Institute is a marine field station in the Archipelago Sea, Baltic Sea, with over 50 years of coastal monitoring and experimental research. Particular emphasis is placed on understanding the ecology and environmental change of the Archipelago Sea.

The station provides laboratories, equipment, flow-through seawater systems, research vessels and long-term environmental data, and is open to Finnish and international researchers, students and visitors year-round. Travel and visitor services on the island are provided by Visit Seili.

As part of the Finnish Research Stations network RESTAT, we support the principle of open access to research infrastructures.
