Evidence-based treatment of depression

The goal of the seminar is to distribute knowledge on effective treatment of depression across the life span, and the possibilities provided by digital and digitally assisted mental health interventions. The speakers are leading scientists on the field of psychoterapy, depression and digitalized interventions. The topics will be discussed by professionals from the Finnish clinical community and research community.

The event is aimed at doctors, psychologists, psychotherapists and other health care professionals, and is open to anyone interested.

Register  by 8.5.2022. Link to  the online participation will be sent before the event by email.

Admission free. A recording of the event will be available for those who have registered for two weeks after the event.

Speakers

Professor Pim Cuijpers

Professor Pim Cuijpers is Professor of Clinical Psychology at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, and Director of the WHO Collaborating Centre for Research and Dissemination of Psychological Interventions. Pim Cuijpers is specialised in conducting randomised controlled trials and meta-analyses on prevention and psychological treatments of common mental disorders. Much of his work is aimed at prevention of mental disorders, psychological treatments of depression and anxiety disorders, and Internet-delivered treatments. Professor Cuijpers has been ranked the world’s number one top expert on research on psychotherapy, and he is also in the top three of experts on depression.

Professor Heleen Riper

Professor Heleen Riper is Professor of eMental-Health at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and works as well at GGZ inGeest a large mental health service organization in the Amsterdam region. She is honorary professor Telepsychiatry at the University of Southern Denmark and a visiting professor at the University of Turku, Faculty of Medicine, Finland. Over the past 20 years her research focus has been on the development, evaluation and implementation of innovative eMental-Health interventions for common mental disorders from prevention to treatment. In 2020 she has been ranked by the Web of Science in the top of 1% mostly cited researchers in her cross-sectional domain. 

Voimaperheet research group

Voimaperheet research group evaluates the effectiveness of the digitalized CBT-intervention “YHDESSÄ VAHVAKSI” in treatment of perinatal depressive symptoms in mothers screened from the general population. It will also assess the personal, familial and treatment-related factors that may affect the impact of the treatment.
