Oberon and Arcturus
Finland Steamship Co.
1920s

With this beautifully illustrated brochure, you can imagine what it was like travelling by steamship in the 1920s. Charming pictures portray two ships: s/s Oberon and s/s Arcturus. S/s Oberon was built in 1924 and Arcturus in 1898. Ships sailed on Helsinki-Copenhagen-Hull line.

There were I class and III class cabins, smoking rooms and dining saloons in Oberon and Arcturus. Is there any hint that the route was from England to Finland? As you can see, there was the famous Five O’clock Tea, of course. Unfortunately, these ships collided with each other and Oberon sank in three minutes in 1930 – shortly after this brochure was made.
