Welcome to time travel year 802701 — the time machine is driven by a man looking like Cary Grant

The Classics Illustrated comic magazine series was published in Finland between 1957 and 1966. The series was originally published in the USA, but was later released in several countries in eleven different languages. Classics Illustrated started publishing in the US in the 1940s and the contents of the magazines were mainly based on classic novels.

Issue 22 of Finnish edition of Classics illustrated is based on H.G. Wells science fiction novel “Time Machine”, which was published in England in 1896. The book deals with several themes of science fiction literature and is still one of the most recognized works on the genres of speculative fiction and science fiction.

In the novel, a bold grey eyed scientist succeeds in solving the problems of quantum gravity and realizing the miracle of teleportation. He invents a time machine that allows him to travel forward in time and go back to his own time. In the book, the scientist tells his time travel experiences to his friends after the trip.

In the comic book version the artist’s view of the time machine, its structure and time travelling  is particularly fascinating.
