Esko Valtaoja worked as a professor at the University of Turku, he retired in 2015. He won the Finlandia Prize for his book Kotona maailmankaikkeudessa in 2002 for the best non-fiction work. Avoin tie – kurkistuksia tulevaisuuteen is the second part of his trilogy.
