The Finnish State Railway arranged circular tours (Rengasmatkat). Circular tour ticket booklets were on sale from May 1st to September 30th, except for lake tours which were restricted to the sailing season. Tickets were valid for one month. The traveler could break his/her journey as often as he/she wished.
Let’s take a look at tour 3: Maarianhamina – (boat) Turku – Helsinki – Vesijärvi – (boat) Jyväskylä – Haapamäki – Virrat – (boat) Tampere – Turku – (boat) Maarianhamina. At first-class tickets cost 4000 mark, which is about 140 euro in 2020. Children over 4 and under 12 travelled at half price. A traveller could also choose between the alternatives offered: Tampere – Valkeakoski by bus or Kangasala – Vehoniemi by boat.
