During the course you will discover the opportunities and learn how to transform research and ideas emerging from everyday practises into impactful innovations with commercial potential. The course will help you to understand the fundamentals of idea and invention development towards commercialization and the first step in business, especially in the challenging life sciences and healthcare sectors. However, these basic lessons are applicable to any field.
In addition, you will learn to identify crucial considerations and how to find support when developing your ideas. The course will show you where to access up-to-date information on policies, required legal agreements, processes, and regulations at both organizational and sectoral levels. With authentic real-life examples you can dive into the essentials of commercial preparation and utilization in academia and healthcare, and get acquainted with key concepts such as intellectual property, invention disclosure, patents, product development, and value creation. Registration
If you want to receive a completion certificate, you can register for the course and complete the required tasks in the learning environment. Only registered participants will have access to the course assignments/exam.
You can register for the course year-round, except during the summer break of the Open University. After registration, you will receive login instructions for the course platform via email. Note: There may be a delay (up to 12 working days) in receiving the completion instructions for those registering through the Open University, and the instructions will be sent once your registration has been processed.
